- It's used in a wide range of personal care products such as soaps, shampoos and toothpastes. SLS is also an ingredient in industrial products such as car wash soaps, engine degreasers and floor cleaners
- Sodium laureth sulfate (SLES), an accepted contraction of sodium lauryl ether sulfate (SLES),. but without the ethoxylation step. SLS and ammonium lauryl sulfate (ALS) are commonly used alternatives to SLES in consumer products
- Sodium lauryl sulfate is used in the preparation of pharmaceuticals, as an emulsifier in the manufacture of synthetic rubbers, resins and plastics, high-quality shower products, shampoos, hand sanitizers, and disinfectants
